Hello, and thank you for joining us for a few moments of inspiration and loving conversation with C. Melita Webb.
This is a special edition of a PSA to America's teachers, caregivers, and everyone responsible for educating, uplifting, mentoring, and supporting children, and people who just don't understand right from wrong. We do not want any children told to pretend that they are slaves. We do not want any children asked how to punish slaves.
How are insensitive people getting teaching certificates? Who are the parents raising these inadequate people that want our children to be ostracized, abused mentally, or otherwise negatively affected?
Do you not realize that some studies show that one out of 22-25% of the "caucasian/European" Americans whose family lived in the US in the 1800' have black DNA.

Today we discuss the importance of interacting with each other in love, peace, and kindness. As we walk and talk, we need to mindful and respectful. I, too, have made poor choices and learned how not to contribute to negativity.
The book that clarified a lot for me which I referenced was Joyce Myers, Change Your Words, Change Your life.

Today I share some fascinating genealogy basics and how I got hooked by the "Genealogy Bug" and family connections.

Many states didn’t keep birth, death, or marriage records at the county level until the early 1900's. Specific spellings of names and dates of birth were not considered important enough to enforce consistent spelling or record keeping. The reporting requirements changed once the federal government became involved and the social security act passed into law.
Similarly, most people were delivered at home by illiterate midwives, so no hospital or official records were completed. Documents were often not pursued until they were needed to enroll a child in school or if adults wanted to file for Social Security filings. So look for delayed birth certificates.
Apprenticeship was the name used by the courts who took children and assigned them a place to live where they were to be fed, clothed, cared for, and educated.
The book I spoke about was The Bondswoman’s Narrative.

Strength of the Next Generation

Hello, and thank you for joining us for a few inspirational moments and loving conversations with C. Melita Webb.
Today we discuss the growth, opportunity, and resilience in the next generation. I want to send love and appreciation to the wonderful men who welcomed me and facilitated the community group a few days ago.
The first gentleman Demitrius Beaumont, aka Spaceman has become part of our family. He and his cherished children are part of the daily joy in my heart. He is an amazing father, community activist, rapper/singer/songwriter, barber, and so much more. He has blessed our lives for 15+ years.
The second gentleman, Mr. J. Reese. I have never met before but I could hear his genuine, welcoming heart and the strength of his love for others. There is a humbled grace to the blessed way he imparts knowledge and shares his essence. My hope and prayer is that you hear their hearts and one day meet their greatness. We are all better by them being in our communities and enacting change.
Thank you both for helping me a smile, warming my heart, honoring me with respect, love and your blessed presence in my life. Your interaction helped one of my greatest desires to come true. I now feel like a true “mother of the community.”

Today we talk about how traumatic events such as car accidents, bullying, various forms of prejudice, and other difficult life situations are absorbed and almost feel like an assault on our bodies.
Also, we talk about the importance of recognizing compounded trauma, transferred and shared trauma. Pain is usually the clue that we are dealing with traumatic stress. We look at ways to identify when situations trigger us or why we are self-isolating.

The Faces of Trauma
Friday Feb 12, 2021
Friday Feb 12, 2021
Hello, and thank you for joining us for a few moments of inspiration and loving conversation with C. Melita Webb. Today we talk about how traumatic events such as divorce, abuse, abandonment, bullying, pain, death of a loved one, and life, in general, can impact our walk of faith and the way we see the world.
The prompt for this discussion is an article in the Huffington post personal essay section. A writer disclosing how she was traumatized as a young child and then felt subsequent trauma again once something else occurred in life in her later years.
I share with you the story about a time I was walking in my community, and a little Hispanic girl, maybe 5/6 years stepped off the curb without her parents' knowledge. She didn't realize everyone else was still waiting on the curb. She began to walk into the lane of traffic. Because she was so tiny, she didn't see the oncoming traffic.
But thankfully, I could see that she was in danger. Her parents smiled and nodded in thanks but didn't speak. My thought was there was probably a language barrier.
I was fighting asthma and rushed to share this thought. In my haste, I used the wrong phrase. I meant that,"She was too close to the curb."
Side note, I still live in the same community. If you are apart of that family or the łittle girl who was grabbed by a stranger in Columbia City, I would love to know how you are doing.
